Dr. Edwards is committed to providing high quality mental health care that is tailored to the needs of the individual and their goals for treatment.  He works collaboratively with each individual to assess and address their life challenges, enabling them to tap into their inner strength and resiliency.   Dr. Edwards provides a thorough initial assessment and feedback, including specific recommendations for treatment.  He uses an integrative model that pulls from humanistic/existential, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral traditions.  He also includes mindfulness, meditation, and relaxation techniques for those who are interested.

​Dr. Edwards received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Michigan State University in 2003.  He completed his doctoral degree in clinical psychology (PsyD) at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2009.  Dr. Edwards has been a licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois since 2011. 

​AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
Dr. Edwards has a strong interest and extensive experience working with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety and panic, acculturation and cultural transitions, relationship concerns, family discord and conflict, grief and loss, recovery from trauma (post-traumatic stress), unhealthy eating patterns and/or body image, self-esteem and identity issues.  

Dr. Edwards considers himself a strong ally of the LGBTQIA communities and appreciates every opportunity to address their concerns. Dr. Edwards has extensive experience and expertise working with college students, "digital nomads", artists, tech workers, health care workers, lawyers, business executives, and entrepreneurs.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Dr. Edwards has worked in private practice since 2012. He lived in Paris, France from 2017-2019 where he saw English speaking clients. Dr. Edwards currently lives and works in West Bloomfield, MI while accepting clients from anywhere in Illinois, Michigan, and abroad for video chat sessions. He previously worked at university counseling centers in Illinois and Washington State, as well as hospitals and outpatient behavioral health centers focused on caring for and treating those living with severe and chronic mental illness.  He has taught masters students at his alma mater, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
